Program Highlights
Module 1: Managing Self
Managing effectively requires knowing yourself. Too often, managers want to fix what's wrong with others without first looking at themselves. People tend to favor one or two behavioral styles when managing others. Good managers understand how their behavior affects others; great managers flex or adapt their behavior to lead others more effectively. The difference between good and great begins with self-discovery.
- Discover and learn about the impact of your natural behavioral style using the DiSC Personal Profile System.
- Identify and describe the major characteristics, needs, goals, and fears of the four behavioral styles: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness.
- Better understand your communication style and the perception that others have of your style.
- Use the information learned to develop an action plan for self-management in a specific work situation.
Module 2: Managing Others
Managing people can be a complex process. When you consider all the ways that people are different, from their strengths, weaknesses, likes, dislikes, cultures etc. it's no wonder that today's managers find the art of management a complicated puzzle. More than ever, today's workforce requires that managers are adaptable to the needs of the individuals they manage. Successful managers and leaders understand how to create environments that shape self-starters and command accountability.
- Use the DiSC System to identify the behavioral styles of others.
- Develop specific strategies for working more effectively with those people who may have different behavioral styles.
- Create a specific action plan for managing and/or working effectively with those you supervise and work with.

Module 3: Managing the Job

- Use the Role Behavior Analysis tool to identify the specific behaviors required for effectiveness in your job.
- Develop an action plan to match your style to the behaviors required by your job.
- Identify and develop strategies for shifting behavior from one role to another.
- Use the DiSC System to identify those role behaviors that may require additional training or coaching.
- Learn how to use the Role Behavior Analysis to create career development action plans.
Module 4: Managing Performance
How can a manager motivate others to improve their performance? Research shows that motivation comes from an environment or work culture that inspires people to want to do their best. Acquire a system to create a high performance environment. With this tool, managers learn to how to make individual coaching sessions clearer and more effective. Managers learn to tailor each function of management to each team member's behavioral style, ability, and level of willingness.
- Analyze situations to identify and describe specific performance issues.
- Manage performance of employees based on their willingness and ability to perform the job.
- Evaluate another individual's willingness and ability to perform a specific task or activity.
- Develop performance improvement strategies that reflect an understanding of basic management principles, individual willingness and ability, and individual needs and style differences.
